Operation Christmas Child
ADOPT-A-FAMILY kick off begins November 21, 2010 Adopt-A-Family is designed to provide and deliver Christmas (clothing items and toys) for foster families in our community. Gift tags are hanging on the Christmas tree in the parlor. Each gift purchased should be returned UNWRAPPED to the church by Sunday, December 12. PLEASE keep the tag with the gift! All the gifts are then given to the Childrens Baptist Home in St. Louis, Michigan and given in the name of Jesus. If you would like to help deliver gifts, please contact Traci Massar at 463-4082. This is a wonderful family activity. To support Adopt-A-Family with a monetary donation, write "adopt-a-family" on the memo line of your check made out to Alma United Methodist Church.
AUMC Response to Operation Christmas Child 2010: AWESOME!
Over the past few weeks, shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child (stuffed full of small toys, school supplies, hygiene items and candy) came pouring into our church, nearly doubling the number of boxes received last year! Generous monetary contributions provided much-needed funds to complete additional boxes, while entirely covering the cost of shipping. Each box was inspected, sealed and delivered to the regional collection center in Mt. Pleasant on Friday. Thank you to everyone who contributed, providing an unexpected treat and message of hope to children whose young lives have been marred by extreme poverty, loss of parents, or natural disaster. Each year, shoe boxes are delivered to children all over the world in time for Christmas in the name of Jesus. Operation Christmas Child is one of the many outreach and relief ministries of Samaritan's Purse. ---- Project coordinators, Julie Armstrong and Andrea Armstrong.
